Services

At Bluebird Psychology Clinic, we focus on providing evidence-based psychological counselling for individuals above the age of 18..  “Evidence-based” means that the approaches we use have been researched, tested and proven to work for a significant number of people. Please note, if you are involved in any court cases and require a report for court, please see a Forensic Psychologist. We do not provide court reports.

What does your first appointment look like?

In the initial appointment, your psychologist will conduct a clinical assessment, wherein they ask you a range of questions about how you are feeling, and some about your background. You may also be asked to complete some short questionnaires. The assessment will help your psychologist to understand what’s going on for you and what treatment approach suits you best. As each individual is unique, treatment is tailored to suit what you need. Psychologists work within strict ethical guidelines. As such, if something is beyond the scope of your psychologist, you will be referred on accordingly. Together with your psychologist, you can discuss your goals for therapy and how you would like things to be for you (e.g. have better sleep, feel calmer, or more confident). If you don’t have any goals, that’s ok too. Therapy can be a good place to work that out. Future sessions will involve the use of focused psychological interventions to help you work towards goals and improve your overall wellbeing. See Therapeutic Styles to learn more about what your journey will involve.

Appointments can be in person OR via Telehealth

You can attend an appointment in person at the new office in Umina Beach NSW, or online, via the teleconferencing platform Zoom. Prior to your online appointment, you will be sent a link to a private meeting, where you and your psychologist can meet for your appointment. If you have been referred by your GP under a Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible for the same rebate, regardless of whether you attend in person or online.
